Invited Speaker for local meeting of the
Pennsylvania Association of Retired State Employees (PARSE)

I was privileged to be the invited speaker for the local meeting of the Pennsylvania Association of Retired State Employees (PARSE). People were there from a variety of backgrounds. I gave a talk encouraging everyone to be more aware of their environment - to be more aware of what's around them. "If you look more carefully, you will see more! If you listen more carefully, you will hear more!" I presented an interactive PowerPoint presentation using bird song as an example of the general principle. Of course, I gave out handouts, and active participation in the exercise matching up the playback of recorded bird songs with their printed sonograms was required as a part of training their brains to be more observant. I had fun having students again!
