Joyce treasured her time spent enjoying life with family and friends. She was an avid sports fan most notably cheering for her Tarheels and the Dallas Cowboys, loved fishing, snow skiing, tennis, golf, horseback riding, and playing cards and was truly at peace in her sanctuary at the beach.

She especially enjoyed cooking and entertaining with others as she was known for her creations in southern cuisine and always was surrounded by laughter.
